COOL SPACES TOUR: HEREDEROS DE ROWAN

Herederos de Rowan is a communication agency that is located in a special location with a lot of history, that was used for activities linked to fishing. The name of this building is BITA (1946) and was made by the architect Fausto. Before this building was reformed in 1990 it had been used for three activities: market, warehouse and for the cleaning, dyeing and drying of nets. Nowadays, it continues to be the same building from the outside but inside we can find offices of architects, designers, photographers, ...

Herederos de Rowan es una agencia de comunicación que se encuentra en un sitio muy especial y con mucha historia, la antigua redería de Pasajes. También conocido como edificio BITA (1946) es obra del arquitecto Fausto y fue concebido como edificio industrial que a lo largo del tiempo tuvo tres usos: mercado, almacenes industriales y limpieza, teñido y secado de redes antes de su rehabilitación hacia 1990. Ahora, en el aloja distintas oficinas para arquitectos, interioristas, fotógrafos y en este caso a está agencia de comunicación llamada Herederos de Rowan. 

  This amazing "SHOW" sign is part of the work made for the preview in the Tabakalera building of " Balada triste de trompeta" , the last film of Alex de la Iglesia. Old pictures of the surrounding buildings are leaned againts the wall.

  El espectacular cartel de "SHOW" es parte del trabajo de herederos para el preestreno exclusivo de “Balada triste de trompeta” de Álex de la Iglesia en Tabakalera. En la pared se apoyan fotografías antiguas del edificio de la redería. 

 

  In the first floor of the antique building are located the headquarters of Herederos, which have achieved to create his own atmosphere. The access to the office is gained through a big and industrial lift. The office, which has very high ceiling and large loft like windows, is used to expose their work. They clients have been: The Fine Art Museum of Bilbao, financial institutions, Heineken, Save the Children institution...

  This office has a open space with an unique space which is used for different activities like: working, waiting room, kitchen and conference room. Stand out are the use of the bookcase to create a divider from this different areas.

  Finally, old photographs of the building and wooden boxes used for fishing mention the old building BITA. 

  El edificio desprende historia y un ambiente muy especial, pero en la 1ª planta los Herederos han creado su propia atmósfera.  Se accede a través de un ascensor industrial  enorme y llegamos a su oficina de techos muy altos, ventanales diferentes a los que suelen verse en las oficinas y una exposición de sus trabajos dispuestos por toda la estancia. Entre sus clientes se encuentran: Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, Kutxa, Heineken, Save the Children, etc.

  La estancia se trata de un espacio único polivalente dividido en: área de recepción, área de trabajo, office y espacio de reuniones. De separación entre estas estancias se han usado las librerías. 

  Como referencia al edificio de la antigua redería podemos ver fotografías antiguas apoyadas en la pared y las cajas de madera que pueden verse nada más entrar a la oficina con peces pintados en ellas.

Somewhere - Sofia Coppola

  Yesterdar I saw for the first time "Somewhere", although it had its premiere last year.  It is directed by Sofia Coppola, and we can also see to Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning (very sweet and kind). Although the plot is simple and there's little dialogue, Sofia can express a lot of things just with images like no one can. The film places in Chateau Marmont that is in California. As usual, the aesthetic of the film is unique, you can recognise Sofia's touch on every scene. If you see the film, you will surely want to go to this hotel. 

  Ayer vi Somewhere por primera vez aunque sea de 2010. Para quien no la conozca, la película esta dirigida por Sofia Coppola y protagonizada por Stephen Dorff y Elle Fanning, que ya es toda una mujer. La mayoría de la película se sitúa en el Chateau Marmont en California del que han pasado cantidad de celebridades del cine. Aunque la película tiene muy poco dialogo, Sofia puede expresar cantidad de cosas sólo con imágenes. La estética del filme es única, y se puede reconocer el toque de Sofia a lo largo de cada escena. Si veis la película estoy segura de que querréis ir al hotel a pasar unas pequeñas vacaciones.

DIY: Pallet table / Mesa palé

  The pallet is used in decoration on many occasions. It is great in some looks, specially in industrials ones. As well as it's cheap, you recycle. In this post you have some ideas to use it as a table.To add confort to the design of the pallet table, you can add rollers. You can also paint it or use more than one, you have several options.

DIY: FABRIC PANELS

  There are so many ways to decor a wall. With photographs, with a painting, ... In this case, we have chosen to decor a wall with fabric panels. Materials we need:

-Wood panels of about 16mm thickness (the size depends on the space we have), stapler, glue, foam rubber, fabrics and scissors.

    Hay muchas maneras distintas de decorar una pared. Desde cuadros, fotografías, papel pintado, etc. En este caso, mostraremos como decorar una pared con paneles de tela estampada en el que queríamos crear contraste y añadir color. Materiales que necesitaremos: 

- Tableros de madera aglomerada de unos 16 mm de grosor (el tamaño dependerá del espacio que tengamos), grapadora, adhesivo, espuma, tela estampada y tijeras. 

1. First, we cut the foam rubber  in the same size as the wooden panel.

1. Cortamos la espuma a la medida del tablero. Tenemos dos opciones. Cortarla a la misma medida, o cortarla varios centímetros de sobra para darle la vuelta por detrás del tablero.

2. Add the glue in the panel

2. Añadir adhesivo al tablero de madera.

3.Stick the panel and the foam rubber

3. Pegar el tablero y la espuma

4. Put the fabric in the panel stretching it

4. Colocar la tela encima de los tableros estirándola.

5. Staple the fabric in the back of the wooden panel

5. Grapar la tela al tablero de madera desde atrás. 

6. When we have finished, we will only have to place it. 

6. Al acabar los tableros sólo falta colocarlos en la pared.
